Midwest Trip

3-12 July 2005

The three of us flew to Illinois and Michigan to see our families.

It was Helen's first time on an airplane, and she faired reasonably well.

Our first stop was to visit my parents in Illinois. On the fourth of July, my Uncle Bob, Aunt Pat, and all of their children and grandchildren came over. These first four pictures are an attempt to get the grandchildren all in one picture.

Here are some shots of Helen with her grandma and grandpa.

Helen and her mother hang out in the back yard. In that first picture, she went over, but didn't seem to mind so much.

More quality pictures of Helen with her grandparents. In that last one, she almost looks like she's posing.

Then we flew to Michigan. She saw her grandpa Dick, her aunt and uncle, and Dick's son Paul. Uncle Gus also showed her the mysteries of the Nintendo DS.

One of the main reasons for the whole trip was the Korzek family family reunion, where Helen got passed around and met a lot of her relatives.

The family picture, always a great ordeal, lots of milling about.

There was lots of hanging out with distant relatives of all ages, and there was a pony, can't forget Helen's first pony ride, although technically it was just a pony-sit.

What party would be complete without Gus squirting Rachel with a novelty squirting ring?

As if a pony wasn't enough, a kind of treasure-hunt was staged where coins were buried in a heap of sawdust. Fun was had by all, even the onlookers.

The next day we took Helen for a walk down to the lake, and although it was quite hot, she seemed to enjoy herself.
