Rachel and I went to the Division of Planetary Sciences meeting in Monterey, CA. The meeting was very good, but Monterey offered much more than just science talks, and so we tried to take advantage of that, too.
On Thursday, we took a horseback ride along Pebble Beach. The conference
ended up booking a limo to take us from the conference center to the
Equestrian Club. The ride was beautiful. We started up in the hills,
rode down and along the beach, and then back up. After that, the limo
driver took us back to the conference center along the scenic route, and
we enjoyed riding in the limo.

Later that evening, we also went sailing out onto the Monterey Bay.
The sealions were all over the docs, and I caught this fuzzy shot of
one dozing on the prow of a canoe. We spent about an hour sailing
out and sailing back. The jellyfish in the water were beautiful, and
it was very relaxing.

I also wanted to get a shot from the balcony of our room at the
Doubletree that looked out onto the fisherman's wharf and the
docks, very nice. Rachel also wanted some pictures of the
crazy lamp that we had in our room.
