Mom and I went to an ice workshop in Oxnard this week and we took Arthur with us. He was very good: he slept the whole way there and back and also the two hours during the session that I gave my talk. It is a 5 hour drive, but we took 8 hours each way with all of the diaper/feeding stops. It was fun to do a road trip with my mom. It was also very nice of the workshop organizers to be so helpful since I could not confirm my attendance until the last minute.
I don't really want to oversell the fact that I went to a workshop. I did absolutely nothing in the weeks leading up to it and intend to do the same for the rest of my leave. I also had my mom along with me to help. I am really grateful to all of the women who had to put up with less helpful situations in the past for paving the way for me. I'm glad I went. I think it was good for my career. Now I get to relax.
